Roots

Plants are easy items to collect, especially when you have an easy access to them. When one is a new plant parent, the only challenge is their daily care since, we are not all born with a green thumb. The idea of a playful and engaging interface came to fruition thanks to various investigations, planning, and wire framing that were conducted at the beginning stage. With the help of Roots, the user will be able to establish effective care habits to keep their plant kiddos alive and thriving. Its main objective is to help educate the owner on the plants they own. While being in the collection, the user can name and identify their plants by scanning their leaf. Once done, the app will diagnose and treat any plant diseases. The owner of the plant can also check on the calendar to set reminders and see which plants need to be watered on a specific day. In order to make the application work, it was required to tap into the small details.

Sommelier’s Knife | Corkscrew

Sommelier’s Knife | Corkscrew

Everything has a story! The tools that we consider ordinary and form part of our everyday lives, are the things that have the most unexpected and quirky backstories. The Sommelier’s Knife is one of those tools. Who would have known that it was designed as a model of war? Or, as a tool used to clean musket barrels. It is an everyday object that is not only interesting but also rich in history, where many of its connotative and denotative meanings were explored. A physical examination of the object was also conducted, taking into account its angle, shape, details, and a relevant prop. Due to the start of the pandemic, most of the students had to stay at home and not being able to have access to a proper photo studio was a challenge. The only solution was to get creative and make a DYI version of a Lightbox to be able to take the photos of the corkscrew

[NOT] YOUR MONA

[NOT] YOUR MONA

An unofficial collection campaign video was created for [NOT] YOUR MONA, utilizing their messaging and design principles as a means to practice Cinema 4D skills. Their iconic hand symbol and \"Not\" on their name were modeled using Mograph. The video integrated After Effects for 2D elements and editing, resulting in a bright, quick, and contemporary advertisement for sunglasses enthusiasts.

Condon Report

Condon Report

A redesign of The Scientific Study of Unidentify Flying Objects by Edward. U. Condon was conducted. While the initial content was disorganized, and confusing to follow. The intended objective was to turn a chaotic compilation of images, and text into a typographic system that was more digestible, functional, and dynamic. Overall, the design was inspired by the UFO sighting caught on camera. One of the images was taken as inspiration for the design of the cover- a clean, simple version of the screen of a radar. The color black was applied to portray a mysterious concept. Bits of information found on the screen were used as part of the navigation system to guide and make the readers feel part of the case. It was a challenge trying to fit all the copy and images into a 300-page book or less. Playing with an asymmetrical layout was the key. It made the design more active and interesting while adding complexity between elements.

Medicinal Marijuana Posters

Medicinal Marijuana Posters

There are many ongoing debates when it comes to the use of marijuana for medicinal purposes. More than 30 states in the United States are in favor of allowing its use, but there is also a large and growing number who use it recreationally. This poster series explores the heated arguments of its pros and cons of legalizing marijuana for medicinal uses with the juxtaposition of the issue of Prohibition. It was quiet of a challenge trying to distribute the text across the space, but with the use of a scanner, a psychedelic type design was created which helped on the relocation of the text.
