Ness Parker

Mixed media, acrylic on bristol paper, photographed and digitally altered. A piece I started in 2021 for Painting & Image-Making II as a roundabout self-portrait and mixed-media experiment. Three years later, I revisited it with a much clearer idea of how to develop the final image and hindsight on my experiences in isolation. This gallery includes process work from 2021, including my original sketch, a digital value pass, and my first mixed-media pass. The most recent pass and final image was completed in April, 2024.

Digital illustration. A dramatic image originally intended for a value-based project in Composition for Illustration, revisited recently to experiment with applying color on top of values with overlays, and to push the scene’s aggressive, threatening atmosphere.

Keyframe digital illustration for an unannounced project. Created during a project for Future Illustration Media, in which the class experimented with using Gravity Sketch to set a scene as reference for an illustration. I used this as an opportunity to stage a keyframe painting as early development for a project still in the works now. Far more recent designs of these characters are present on my personal portfolio.
