Magnifica Anemone was a collaborative Colors & Materials and Transportation Design project sponsored by Toyota, designed for the California market. Our team, consisting of a colors and materials designer (myself) , an interior car designer (Taegyeong Kim) and an exterior car designer (Taehwan Ahn), was tasked with developing a vehicle inspired by nature. We chose the sea anemone for its striking balance of playfulness and protection. Through close collaboration, we designed a vibrant, distinctive, and innovative vehicle that embodies these qualities while pushing the boundaries of color, materiality, and form. The project deliverables included a vehicle designed to accommodate two adults, two children, and a dog, ensuring both functionality and comfort. Additionally, we developed two distinct colorways and a palette of five to seven exterior colors to enhance the vehicle’s dynamic and expressive aesthetic.

The workplace, with its diverse demographics spanning generations, cultures, and abilities, necessitates a universal need for play. Play enhances creativity, reduces stress, fosters community, and supports ongoing learning. Encouraging playful activities among employees and fostering the right environment are crucial for promoting healthy productivity and a positive workplace culture. According to Harvard Business Review, happy workers lead to a 13% increase in productivity, while workplace unhappiness costs the world $8.8 trillion annually, equivalent to 9% of global GDP.

The Naples Residence was a significant residential sponsor project that I had the privilege of participating in, ultimately earning first place for my design. The primary goal of this project was to create a family oasis, a space that felt both inviting and nurturing. To achieve this, I carefully considered the interplay of color, materials, and furniture choices, ensuring each element contributed to an overall sense of harmony and comfort. I utilized SketchUp and Enscape to develop detailed 3D renderings, which allowed me to visualize the space and make informed design decisions. This experience not only honed my technical skills but also deepened my understanding of how thoughtful design can enhance the quality of family life.

The Carnababy Street Home is a charming oasis designed as a haven for a young family, blending comfort, style, and functionality. This inviting space features a warm color palette and natural textures, creating a cozy yet vibrant atmosphere. The heart of the home is its spacious, modern kitchen, equipped with ample storage and room for family gatherings, encouraging shared moments in cooking and dining. There’s also a dedicated craft room, ideal for creativity and family bonding through art and projects. With an open layout, the Carnababy Street Home allows for seamless flow between spaces, inviting family members to come together—whether for a movie night, a lively dinner, or an outdoor play session in the yard. Inspired by the classic charm of Boston and traditional English architecture, the home blends historical elegance with modern comfort, making it a delightful retreat tailored for family life.
