Yongbo Hayden

This was a self portrait assignment. This was made entirely with acrylic paint and was completed over the course of two weeks. Cooking is a fun activity that they like to participate in, so the ideation behind the piece was about brings some mystery and fun into a daily task. Process work includes gather self directed reference folders, creating thumbnails, drawing, and an underpainting. Light was emphasized as a way to model the forms.

This piece is a tech pack illustration made in Adobe Illustrator. The technical illustration of the shoe turnaround were also done by Yongbo in Illustrator. The illustrated pattern was created using vector art and the focoltone color palette. Through this fashion textile illustration, themes of nature and ocean life were researched and explored.

The Arrival is a graphite drawing of a saloon with the boot of a cowboy in the foreground. This was created using a hand measured perspective grid. Through this piece exhibits practice in perspective and developing surface texture design in drawings.

This piece is 20\" x 18\" acrylic painting. This piece delves into gender and society, and how nonbinary people are still looked at by society as \"phenomena,\" mysterious, and sometimes frightening. The connotation candy is very feminine, and this piece aims to allow viewers to question themselves what kinds of gendered connotations they have with the world around them. Progress photos include one of the thumbnail page, initial drawing on canvas, and the painting lay in stage of the painting.

虎年 \"Hu Nian,\" is a digital illustration painting completed in Photoshop. In celebration of the Chinese New Year, the last day of celebrations (the 15th day) the lantern festival is held. This drawing is a depiction of paper lanterns floating in the sky as a woman with a tiger stands and admires the scene. The tiger\'s stripes are glowing adding a mystical and surreal element to the piece. This work demonstrates a more cinematic and scene building approach. Included are the final image and the thumbnail ideas for this piece.
