Acrylic painting on wood board, kiln formed glass, forged steel, gold paint. 48" x 30 " This is a representational painting depicting the life of a Chinese opera performer. Inspired by the history itself, this piece examines the roles of gender in the performing arts relating it to the modern queer culture and experience.

History Repeats Itself

Blown glass, red thread 48 " x 5 " x 5" Blown glass using the knowledge of functional glassware to create a collage of "teapots." This piece cycles through the different stages of destruction and reconstruction literally. The first teapot is speckled with the fragments of previous failed attempts. It then becomes a solid color, then implodes, and all that is left is shatters. The Chinese character for love is carved into one of the fragments.

What Led me to You

Acrylic on canvas, kiln formed glass, red thread 72" x 36" This diptych was created as an illustrative narrative on historical and modern queerness. Inspired again by the Chinese opera, one character leaves their home and tradition in search of individual freedom, while another discovers the remnants of the past and is intrigued to find more. This strongly reflects the artist's own journey with their identity in uncovering the past to better interpret the modern times.

Acrylic on wood panel, forged steel 10.25 " x 10.25" x 0.75 " This painting was inspired by the told tale of a gay couple of China. This sapphic retelling referencing the garden by utilizing a forged steel frame, detailing foliage and gate-like techniques. The painting itself represents the shared consideration between humans and the instinct to share resources with those we hold close.

Digital Illustration 6" x 4" This illustrated poster is in collaboration with a local Detroit traveling chef. The artist worked with the client to create a fun, but culturally accurate, illustration in celebration of the Chinese New Year. The artist incorporated the company's dishes alongside other traditionally served dishes during this holiday. Postcards were made of this illustration to give out during popups for the company during the month of the Lunar New Year.

Motion Graphic Illustration, Digital Illustration Made in Adobe Photoshop and Aftereffects, this motion illustration carries the theme of Chinese New Year and the different dishes that are served. A part of custom, a various amount of dishes are served in bulk to then be shared amongst the family members. Therefore, the passing of the plate symbolizes the connection between family and friends.
