A Celebration of Humanity

A Celebration of Humanity

For this painting I aimed to encompass my art practice and life at the time entirely with symbols in black paint on a 3x3 foot canvas. My goal was to play with different themes in my life as well as technical aspects of the painting like form and maintaining a consistent negative space.

Self Portrait

Self Portrait

This was the final project in my painting 2 class. My objective was to implement a 3d flower motif I had seen at a restaurant in Detroit into a full scale oil painting. My goal was to work with color and I aimed to create a unique harmony of colors with reference to some of the work of Henri Matisse. I was going for energy, colors that would sing when put next to each other.

Leo in the Dining Room

Leo in the Dining Room

This was one of my linocut prints from my printmaking class at CCS. In this project I aimed to create a jarring contrast of sharp forms and textures as well as themes from my life at the time. Pictured in this scene is a dining room at my home featuring my cat Leo sitting on the table. I like the works and overall story of Picasso and was heavily inspired by his take on art especially in his later life.

Fiume Po

Back in 2015 I studied design in Turin, Italy, this painting was of a location in Turin that I visited frequently when I lived there. I wanted to create a painting that commemorated that experience as Turin was where I learned all of my fundamental skills in art.

Five Guys Lunch bag design

Five Guys Lunch bag design

This is one of my forays into illustration as I am looking to receive an illustration minor at CCS as well as my current major in Fine Arts. For this project I had to design a lunch bag for the fast food chain Five Guys, a chain that I chose to design for. I aimed to create a catchy composition with bright and energetic colors that went well with each other but also accurately represented the brand that I was designing for.

Head Carvings

Head Carvings

These were some head carvings I did during a carving class I took with the carver Alec LaCasse. In these carvings I utilized my experience with the Andrew Loomis method of head drawing. I aimed to create a realistic head and these carvings show my ability working in 3 dimensions as well as 2 dimensional picture planes.
