The first comic cover I completed for my comic story, Lotus and Pekoe. It\'s a story of two heroes on a journey in search of adventure and treasure that could possibly be the thing Lotus needs to save his home town from a mysterious illness. I wanted my comic cover to be an action packed, but also light hearted and colorful story with plenty of unique characters.
This is a character sheet of Lotus, one of the main characters in my Lotus and Pekoe comic. He\'s a young ninja frog from a place called Lillypod, a village full of frog folk. He sets out on a Journey with his friend and traveling partner, Pekoe, in search of an ancient medicine hidden somewhere in the world, it\'s whereabouts lost to time. This ancient medicine will help stop a deadly plague that has mysteriously fallen upon Lilypod. Lotus is a very cocky, energetic person, but has courage and a big heart.
Pekoe is the second main character and best friend/traveling partner to Lotus. She is a gifted treasure hunter, who hails from the Red Panda village. She is the voice of reason to Lotus\' impulsive behavior. The staff she carries with her grants her geokinesis abilities, like controlling earthy objects and allowing her to transform into stone statues on command. The beads she wears have some mysterious power that she hasn\'t learned to control. Pekoe is a more laid back and mature character than Lotus is, but is always looking out for him.

Captain Kali is an antagonist in my Lotus and Pekoe comic. She\'s the captain of the Kraken, a pirate ship that is known and feared throughout all the land, and she is the one who upholds their reputation. She is a confident, flirty, and intimidating squid woman who enjoys stealing the treasure right from Lotus and Pekoe\'s hands. She cares about her crew like they are her family, and is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to a fight.
I was assigned to create a children\'s book illustration out of an already existing franchise, so I chose the legend of zelda. I definitely took some inspiration from classic fairy tales like sleeping beauty, and snow white.
