Grieve Her Dearest

A narrative poster illustration paired with a botanical bouquet illustration. Utilizing floral symbolism, these artworks are intended to work in tandem with each other, as well as individually. The flowers portrayed in these illustrations are Forget-me-nots, Marigold, and Asphodel. Forget-me-nots represent true love and remembrance, especially in regards to passed loved ones. Marigolds in Victorian flower language portray pain and grief, and was thought to ease sadness with its cheerful color. Asphodel is most well-known in Greek myth for its connection with the underworld, death, and mourning, ultimately meaning, “My regrets follow you to the grave.” With these flowers in mind, two illustrations were made to represent the follow-through concept of grieving a lost loved-one.
