Abigail Conley Editing & Directing Reel

Abigail Conley Editing & Directing Reel

This reel recaps a collection of my strongest editing and directing from this past year, from narrative body horror to Super 8 experiments. Films: "if you have a second, try to be satisfied.", "METALURG!A", "Against the Tongue", "if someone were to find me", "Our House is Still Warm", & "Indulge Me"

"& if you have a second, try to be satisfied." Short Film

This film was developed, shot, and edited completely independently and I am very proud of what I accomplished by myself with very limited time and resources. For my narrative filmmaking class, we were tasked to make a piece that emphasized time. At this point in the semester, I have been struggling with burnout and have developed a growing fear of being stagnant in the workforce. Within this short, I echo these sentiments while toying with the cyclical nature of consumerism and labor.

"METALURG!A" Short Film

For my Experimental Film II course, we were tasked to create a film surrounding bodies within actions and space. “METALURG!A” is a short experimental film that explores the distress that comes from extraneous bodily constraint, whether it’s societal or physical.

Through a series of home videos, static images, and whispered journal entries, “if someone were to find me” explores the relationship between lost life experiences and the body after death. Directed and edited by Abigail Conley with photography by Gunnar Applebaum and footage by the Conley family.
