VOTE LOCAL
VOTE LOCAL
#WHYVOTE USA is a design project aimed at increasing political participation and educating young voters about the importance of local elections. Over the course of three weeks, we developed a campaign that encourages new voters to care about their local communities by highlighting the idea that "big change starts small." Many young voters feel overwhelmed or disconnected when faced with voting decisions, especially at the local level. Our goal was to create a campaign that uses nostalgic, everyday imagery—like neighborhood houses and picket fences—to remind new voters that real change often starts at home. By presenting relatable visuals from everyday life, the campaign seeks to inspire new voters to take action, get informed, and understand the power of their vote in shaping the local community. We created cutouts of houses and fences to have a simple look to our simple aproach “change starts at home”. We also found inspiration in riso style prints and artwork, the hand made feel it looks more human. This project tested the ability of simple making. This was really important to come up with a direction quick and not drown in endless ideas. The three week deadline created a sense of confidence from moving quick from research to ideation.
