Melanie J Vega

In my design for the 2024 Paris Olympics Marathon, I aim to pay tribute to women who have played a crucial role in shaping history. Inspired by runners\' practice of keeping memory boxes from their races to mark progress and celebrate accomplishments, my design features peelable layered insoles depicting historical events in sports. This allows runners to carry a piece of history with every stride, in addition to a shoe charm symbolizing belonging to a community that encourages breaking through barriers. The aesthetic takes cues from Paris\'s iconic architecture for a sense of fluidity and speed, complemented by a rocker outsole that propels the runner forward, enhancing their speed and embodying the spirit of progress and movement. -MELANIE VEGA
