The Lighthouse is a 3D environment project focused on hand painting. I attempted to replicate the 2D concept as close as possible, while making a few stylistic choices that helped form it as a 3D piece. I am extremely proud of the project overall and also how far I was able to push the textures. I love this painterly style and hope to make more hand painted pieces in the future. This project is a Slime Rancher 2 inspired cave that I created in the past 6 weeks. The assignment was to study a company or game, and then recreate their style in a modular environment. So, I decided to create a research station located inside of a cave. My goal when creating this scene was to capture the liveliness of the game, as well as grow my skills with sculpting, foliage, and trim sheets. I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of the process, especially creating the composition of the environment.
My goal of this project was to create a sci-fi bunker inspired by retro futurism, using a softer and cleaner aesthetic than one may think of when they think \"apocalypse\". I especially enjoyed creating the composition and set dressing, as well as creating the PBR materials and trim sheet.
I am extremely excited to share this fantastical stylized game-ready asset. My main goal for this project was to create something using my own concept, while also exploring further in sculpting and texturing.
Creating this environment was a crazy process from start to end. This was my first time creating foliage, trim sheets, and tiling textures, and I am super proud of the way they came out.
